After going through some “Best of 2011” lists, I’m increasingly flummoxed by the 80s revival that is going on. What am I to think when I look for cutting-edge indie music and all I find are bands that sound like Men at Work tribute bands (e.g. Cut Copy)? Hell, I knew Men at Work was lame when I was six. Is this merely a manifestation of the Irony Generation’s congenital inability to distinguish the lame from the awesome?
